Question

Question

hyperlink to a pdf document

asked on January 25, 2016

Hi,

I would like to know if it's possible to have a link that would behave like the GetExportFile.aspx that you get when you click on "open ->electronic document" in webaccess. It seems that the link created that way wont last more then a few minutes.  What i mean by "behave like the GetExportFile.aspx" is that it open the pdf directly in the browser.

Thank you

That URL is something that's only supported internally within Web Access; it's not meant for direct URL linking. We'll look into expanding electronicFile.aspx to open directly in the browser on one click. It's also worth noting that future versions of Web Access will allow viewing PDFs in the document viewer, like the Desktop Client.

For now, however, clicking to open the downloaded file is the best workaround.

Hi there,

Yes, there is such a URL in both Web Access 9 and 10. You can accomplish this using a URL of the format:

http://serverName/laserfiche/electronicfile.aspx?db=RepoName&id=EntryID&Mode=Export

That will download the pdf locally. If you click the downloaded file, it will then open  in the browser (in Chrome) or choose to open in it the browser (IE11, FF).

This URL will work for both versions of Web Access (9 and 10).

Note that this will URL will only work if the document whose id you specify has a PDF efile component (meaning it won't work on image docs, but will work on PDFs or PDFs with pages).

Thank you for your answer,

Yes the link you suggest works fine if you want to download the pdf and then click to open it in the browser but our users will realy like to just have to click once on the link and then the pdf open automaticaly in the browser. I know that this link "http://serverName/laserfiche/Dialogs/Export/GetExportFile.aspx?token=671110899&nw=true do what we want but like i said it stop working after a few minutes.
