Question

Question

Does the "Set Business Process Variables" activity require Forms 10?

asked on January 23, 2016

One of our clients is on version 9.2.1 and they have a project where this activity would be very useful. We can upgrade LFS and WF to version 10, but Forms has to remain on version 9.2.1 for unrelated reasons. Can we still use this activity, or do we also need to upgrade Forms?

You can

1. Make a copy of the 9.2.1 version database.

2. Make a snapshot of the Forms server.

before upgrade.

After upgrade, if things does work, you can roll back the Forms server and link to the 9.2.1 database.

Only Forms 10 support two way communications with workflow. So you need to upgrade Forms.

How do we roll back if something goes wrong and our forms break during the upgrade? We have a significant amount of customizations on every form.

Thanks Abby. Any reason why the Forms server snapshot is necessary? Are there files and settings on there that need to be backed up?

If you use Save to Laserfiche.xml, or you have Date time format custom config in the Web.config file, then you don't want to lose that when you install the 9.2.1 from scatch.

OK, we don't have either of those so we'll just backup the forms database and proceed with the upgrade. Thanks again.
