Utility to shrink volume size

asked on January 15, 2016

I know in LF 7.2  there was a utility that you could run on the volume to reduce large file sizes.  Is there a utility for LF 9 or LF 10?  We just completed a micro film conversion and had to use gray scale for the conversion which left us with some large files.

Thanks

Hello John,

If you're asking about volume compression, this feature was actually removed in Laserfiche 9.1 because it was really just intended for removable volumes on optical discs. However, there are other ways to reduce volume size. I did some research on Answers and it looks like another user suggested using NTFS Compression on volume folders. Here is the thread if you'd like more details on this method.

Hope this helps!

May I ask if it is acceptable to use lossy compression such as JPEG? Lossy compression reduces the quality of color and grayscale images in exchange for better compression rates.
