Changing date format from Custom to Short

Client has a date field that the formatted to MM/YYYY.

Client wants to change the Date Field format from MM/YYYY to Short Date. What would be the impact of this on documents with this field? How would the system know what the dd value is for the Short date?

The field format that's configured for the date field is for display purposes only. The actual date value is still retained in the database. You can switch the field format for the date field to short date and it will display the value according to the short date format that's configured in Windows on that PC.
