For WebLink, multiple people may be logged in using the same public user (if licensed for public portal), so when a user in weblink changes these settings, it is stored as cookies in your browser. Since cookies can expire or be cleared, the settings might be cleared.

If you want to more permanently change settings, you can configure attributes for that user by either logging in to Web Access/desktop client, or manually creating the attribute.
