Question

Is there any way to see who deleted what document when?

asked on January 8, 2016

I was a little bit surprised to find out that I can delete without any warning a document which was being version controlled. And if it was once purged from Recycle Bin, then there seems no other trace about the deleted document. Does Laserfiche keep any history about deleted documents? Even just who deleted it when?

Audit Trail is the only reliable method for tracking the history of an individual entry. That is basically exactly what it does.

Going forward, you can withhold delete entry access rights to prevent users from being able to delete documents, or the delete feature right if they shouldn't delete anything throughout the repository. You can also withhold the purge entiries privilage to prevent users from purging documents from the recycle bin, in case something was inadvertedly deleted.

Yes by using the audit trail report

Thank you for your reply, Rene. But audit trail report is a separate module I have to buy, I guess. Is there any OTHER way to see who deleted what file and when? FYI, we have Avante SQL Express version.

OK, I see [activity_log] table in db keeps all events occurred. Seems like event=2 is for DELETE events. But I could not figure out the event time. Anybody?

Thank you, Justin. I think withholding the purge privilege is a good idea for now.
