Question

is it possible to export metadata from one template into an excel document?

asked on January 5, 2016

We would like to be able to report on information recorded in the metadata of a template and would therefore like to export a group of document's metadata into an excel doc. Is this possible?

You can do this by first right clicking where it has the name column and select the metadata that you would like to export. You can also do this by going into Tools > Options > Browser > Columns, and select the metadata fields and other properties that you would like in the column display. You can then go to File > Export > List Contents and export the column display as a .csv file. This will open in Excel. You can either select or do a search for specific documents using the advanced search instead of the general search to filter out the documents that you would like the list contents to have exported.

You could create an ODBC connection to your excel file and insert the data you need, just like you would add to a SQL table using workflow
