Question

ScanConnect Freezing when scanning

asked on January 5, 2016

My client has scanconnect with their LF client, and uses a Canon DR-9080C scanner. The scanner was working fine until recently the scanner will always freeze in the middle of scanning. Usually after it freezes, I have to manually close LFScanning, and the ScanConnect91 program in the task manager. Once I got back in, the scanner gives a message about it not being able to connect to it. After restarting the computer and restarting the scanner, we are back to square one. I have downloaded the latest canon driver, did a complete uninstall/reinstall of LF and scanconnect, and changed USB cables. The client also had the computer rebuilt, and tried the scanner with a different computer but the issue still comes up. Unfortunately the client only has this scanner to work with, no other scanners to test. There are no related error messages in the even logs, and the only ones I could find where in the output log in LFScanning:  "String not found (-4630) Error Initializing "DR9080C: Scanner Driver (-4630)". TWAIN works fine, but they client needs ISIS for specific settings that aren't available in TWAIN. I even tried another scanning program(NAPS2), and it worked fine(it doesn't support ISIS). At this point I'm leaning toward the scanner, but nothing seems to fit. Just wanted to know if anyone else has encountered this issue and if they found a solution for it.

LF: 9.2.1.5...(can't remember the last 2)

ScanConnect: 8.3

Driver Install: 5.50.137.0

We just ran into this problem also, and it is more than drivers.

Scan Connect worked fine for some users, threw an exception for others.

Remedy:

--Delete the user profiles for the users that do not work via Properties, Advanced System Settings, Advanced, User Profile Settings.
--Emptied Window\Temp folder
--In the registry, deleted the user profiles keys
-- Ran C Cleaner
-- Reinstalled ISIS Drivers
-- Rebooted
-- Ran TestAppN

Then it worked.

Hi,

SCR 155606 (also known as #50747) was fixed in Laserfiche Client 10.3.

Go to c:\windows\pixtran\ and run testappn.exe outside of Laserfiche.  Does that work?

Ok, they have tried that and all the relevant tests available worked fine. Here is a video of the interaction: http://screencast-o-matic.com/watch/cDV1rAhg6h

Any solutions to this issue?  I'm having the same exact error happening when trying to setup Scan Connect for the first time on this PC.

Like Raymond says, run the testapp and that seems to resolve the issue. Really odd but it works!

Yup, tried the testappn file and it usually works, but in this case for some reason would not work.  We had to reboot the PC, let it sit for a bit as it kept freezing, then tried again and it worked.

Try updating the scanner driver also.

Whenever dealing with a scanning issue I've learned to check that first!  Thank you for the recommendations!
