Problem with generating Laserfiche Pages from PFDs using Laserfiche Import Agent 9

asked on December 31, 2015

I am having a problem with Laserfiche Import Agent version 9.0.0.464. Whenever it imports PDFs it fails to generate Laserfiche pages properly. The result of each import is just a bunch of thumbnails with garbled text. Has anyone else experienced this issue and if so do you have any suggestions on how I might resolve the problem?

(I have attached a screen clipping to show what it looks like after the import. This example was a 1 page PDF.)

Jason,

Open the Import Agent Configuration Utility and go into Profile > Options > File Types. Under the "Text" section, make sure that "pdf" is not listed there. If it is, remove "pdf" from that list. Then restart the Import Agent service and try importing the PDF again.

Hi Jason,

Is this happening with all PDFs, or only certain ones? Try importing the sample PDF documents in C:\Program Files (x86)\Laserfiche\Client and see if the issue persists.

Also, is this happening strictly when importing and generating pages with Import Agent? If you were to, say, Snapshot the PDF to generate pages in the repository or just manually import through either dialog windows or drag-and-drop and then generate pages through the desktop Client, do you experience the same behavior?

It might be worth considering contacting your reseller to open a Support Case for more detailed troubleshooting.

Hello James,

I just tried importing the sample PDFs from C:\Program Files (x86)\Laserfiche\Client and I get the exact same result. I am able to drag and drop a PDF into the repository and use the manual import option but when I do that it does not generate LF pages at all, it just leaves the files in their original PDF format even though I select the "Generate Laserfiche Pages" option.

I think I am going to take your advice and open up a Support Case. Thanks for such a fast response!
