Question

In Forms 10, can a Team Manager unassign a Task

asked on December 30, 2015

If a Task has been assigned to a User, or if the User has assigned the Task to himself, can a Team Manager un-assign the Task and assign it to someone else?

For example if a User assigns a particular task to himself and then a management decision is made for someone else to complete that task, how does the Task Manager re-assign the Task?

I can only see the option for the User to re-assign his own Task.

So you're asking if tasks assigned directly to a user (not a team) can be reassigned by an administrative user? Not specifically in that manner, but this can be done in general using timer events where if the assigned approver doesn't complete the task in a period of time, it'll route to a different approver. Here is a thread that discusses it.

Yes, a team manager can reassign the task. While logged into Forms as the team manager, from the Tasks pane, select the team in question. Then view the "Assigned" tasks and you should be able to click the overflow button to reassign the task. See the screenshot below. It shows the user "FormsTeamManager" logged in and having the ability to reassign a task that is currently assigned to the user, "FORMS."

Thanks Alexander.

What I have found is that if a Task has been assigned to a Team and then to a team member, it appears as an assigned task in the Team as you have shown above.  It can be reassigned by a Manager, or reassigned or released back by the team member.

However, if a Task is assigned directly to the team member, without assigning it to a team first it will not appear in Teams (of course!).  Because my admin is a Team Manager he has no control over an individual user and can only see the Task in History.

I was hoping an administrator could release a Task from an individual even if not in a Team.

Thanks Alexander.

I have added timer events to my tasks to re-assign them back to an Administrator when required.

It would be handy to be able to have administration over all tasks in a future version of Forms.
