Question

Assign Task to a Specific Team Member

asked on December 11, 2015

I wanted to know if it was possible to assign a task to a specific team member somehow. Basically I want to be able to assign a task to someone so it is in their tasks list and have it so that the team manager can reassign it to someone else if for example the person it's assigned to is on vacation.

Ideally I would want to assign a task to a user based on a field from the submitted form but have it so that users manager could assign it to someone else.

Hi Eddie,

This use case definitely makes sense. Currently the team filter cannot use a field variable. This will be enhanced in the next version which will be available early next year.

Hello Eddie,

From what I understand, yes you can. When you set up the User Task, you can select which team to assign the task to. So under the Assign task, you can choose to Assign to a specific Team.

Once the Form is then submitted,  Users from that Team can determine if they wish to assign it to themselves. Going back to your question, a Team Manager or Team Administrator, can from the Team Tasks menu, choose to assign it to a specific Team Member as well.

And Upon doing so, say that said user goes on vacation, the Team Manager or Team Administrator can then choose to reassign it another user instead including him/herself.

If this was not specific details you were inquiring about, then please correct me and I'll try to address it better.

Hi there,

Can you describe your specific business process and Team so that I can understand better about the need?

This is a Check Request process.

When a user from one of the 40 locations submits a check request it goes to that location's AP person for approval. Right now I'm getting that from a table that contains every location and their AP person. What I wanted to do was put everyone in the AP department in a team so that the manager could assign the task to someone else. But the manager doesn't want to have to assign the task every time a check request is submitted.

Sounds good, my work around for now is only assigning it to the one user because admins can now reassign tasks which helps a lot!

Similarly, I have a "request for work" approval form that I was routing to the manager/VP of the submitter based off of a variable on the form. I would like to continue that practice but also include access for the Managers Team to easily see all requests and/or cover for anyone out of the office. Being able to add a variable as part of a Team would be great!
