Question

Can we scan into laserfiche directly as pdf

asked on December 9, 2015

One of our customer is looking to scan into directly in to Laserfiche as pdf. Is there a way to do that?

Couple of options we recommended:

1) Scan as pdf using default scanner features and then use QF to scan the existing pdf into Laserfiche

2) Do a snapshot into Laserfiche of the existing pdf's

But they want to simplify the process by having an option available to scan into Laserfiche directly as pdf .

Thanks,

Nish

Some scanners support scanning to PDF. You could have users scan using the scanner software and save the files to a network drive monitored by Import Agent.

What benefits does PDF give them over images?

The benefit of the PDF is that we have the option to either open the document as a Laserfiche document OR the electronic file in Adobe. I myself use Adobe Pro and it is such a pain that we can't open a Laserfiche document in adobe FROM Laserfiche. I have to edit documents quite a bit and i have to export the document to my desktop just so i can open it in Adobe Pro to make the change. then i have to re-save it to my desktop, import it back into Laserfiche and delete the old document. That shouldn't have to happen. If the document is a pdf it should be able to be opened in Adobe.

Thanks.

Hi Robyn,

Thank you for the additional context, it's really helpful for us when prioritizing this request. Can you elaborate on what sorts of edits you are most often doing in Adobe Pro?

The one MAJOR thing I need to be able to do?? ADD text. I can currently open a Laserfiche document to redact text...but I need to be able to open the document, have it recognize the text so I can edit the existing text or add new text. Removing text is also WAY easier in adobe pro, also, because I don't have to redact it...I can simply delete the text just like if I was in a word editor. Thanks for getting back so quickly! :-)
