Question

Fill Out PDF Form

asked on December 7, 2015 Show version history

Hi, I have a LF Workflow that I am referencing in Process Modeler that fills out a PDF Form (based on LF Forms Content). At first I did not think it worked because when it finally saved in LF it looked blank (had the blue fillable field look) so I checked everything over multiple times. Our VAR troubleshooted it with me too and we made sure it successfully completed without any errors.

Come to find out -workflow does work and completes just fine - the problem is with the PDF form we think. It literally hides field content unless clicked on. If I were to click into a field it would show me its contents..

What can I do to make all the field content show without having to click on individual fields or can I  flatten out the PDF (it doesn't have to be fillable once it saved into LF)?

If you need to see what it is doing I can record a short video and post it. Screenshots don't really help in this case.

Thanks!

Hi Lidija,

See my answer in this previous post. Alternatively the merge option works too.

To make a PDF "flat" after filling in the fields using Workflow, select the Fill Out PDF Form activity and in the Properties pane there is a section called "Make Content Permanent". Select the "Merge the field content into the image" checkbox and that will do the trick.

Hello Blake,

I'm having the same issue (w/ Align Field Data already checked). So if I check the box "Merge the field content into the image", will I still be able to update other fields on that same PDF later in the workflow?

Thanks,

Julie

If you select the "Merge the field content into the image" it will make it so you can no longer update any of the fields in the PDF.

I figured that was the case but was hopeful it wasn't :-)

Thanks,

Actually both are great answers! Blake's makes it so the user using the Repository can't change any important information (by accident or otherwise), and the "Align Field Data" that John mentioned effectively made the values in fields show up without having to click on each one!

Thank you both so much!
