Question

Shrink Picture size on upload to Forms through LF Mobile

asked on December 3, 2015

Hi Guys,

I saw this post - http://answers.laserfiche.com/questions/54301/Mobile-Apps-and-Image-Size  - but I can't seem to locate this paint brush symbol in the app? Does anyone know how to shrink/compress pictures through the LF Mobile app.

Currently we have an expense form setup and the average picture size through the iphone is 1-1.5MB which is very large if you start uploading 40-50 receipts per form.

Using LF 10.

If this isn't possible at the moment please can we raise this as a feature request.

Cheers!

Hi Chris,

Laserfiche app 10.1 which includes the image file compression feature for Forms attachment is now available in all app stores, you can choose to compress the image file when upload image from device album or take picture. Thanks.

Hello Chris,

When you upload your image by pressing the "+" > Upload Image, select your desired image. Then as you go through the upload process, you should come to a pane that looks like this

Then upon pressing that icon, scroll all the way to the bottom and you should see a compression setting. I got this screenshot from the UI for the iOS which is still in review from the app store. So it may look slightly different, but the concept is still the same. Let me know if you have other questions.

Hi Andrew,

Sadly I don't see that option. I don't get anything when I scroll to the bottom.

Hm, May i know your Laserfiche Mobile Server version, and app version?

This can be found by going into settings > Version. Please provide the full version for both.

Thanks!

Hi Ryan,

I've now updated to the following:-

However I still don't get an option to compress the picture sizes when uploading to a form. Am I missing something?

Cheers!

Hi Chris,

In the current iPhone app in App store, the compression is available when you upload images to repository. And the option is under the new document name in the doc viewer.

If you are talking about the images uploading to Laserfiche Form via the "upload" field, currently, we don't apply compression there. But your concern is valid and we're adding this to a our backlog for future release.

Also I'm wondering, do you want to set the size everytime you submit a form, or you want it to be remembered app wise, meaning it will be applied to images uploading both to Forms and repository.

Thanks

Hi Julia,

Ah! Explains the differences I'm seeing. I guess it would make sense to have all images compressed that you are uploading to a form, as in my example if you uploaded 40-50 receipts that could mean 1 form would be more than 80MB in size. Which is far too large considering it could be 2-3MB maximum. Please can you accept this as a feature request.

Cheers!
