Unable to Save to Repository from Forms

asked on December 2, 2015 Show version history

This issue seems to be only coming up recently, but it's affecting the save function for any test forms we're using, going to a specified repository.

Despite checking the template, the folder where the saving is taking place, the database, the Windows folders behind the scenes, the template permissions, etc., I cannot get a form to save to a specified repository, and I'm currently getting an "Access Denied" message:

Message: Access is denied [-2147024891]
Stack trace:    at Laserfiche.Forms.Routing.SaveToLaserficheService.Execute(Int32 instanceId, IRoutingContext routingContext)
   at Laserfiche.Forms.Routing.ServiceTask.Execute(Int32 instanceId, IRoutingContext routingContext)

I set up the same connection profile, folder, user, template, etc. on a different repository (with what appears to be the exact same permissions), and the form will save to another repository without any problem.  This is with creating a brand new template, with only one field, and creating one form, with only one field, saving to the repository (or at least trying).

In addition (although I'm not sure if it's related), I'm also seeing a number of errors like this on my server's Event Viewer:

Error deleting an electronic document volume data file.  Volume ID: .. Store ID: ..... Path: \\.....* Error: 5

Anyways, I have lots of error log messages if needed, but I'm completely baffled as to why everything would work just fine to one repository, but wouldn't work to another - any suggestions anyone might have would be appreciated.

Hi there,

Which version of Forms are you using? Are you saving as PDF or TIFF, are both not working?

Other things you can check/look into is

a) Using the account that you used to set up the "Save to repository" connection profile, if you were to go on the desktop client, are you able to have that same user log in, and import in PDF/TIFF files?

b) Are the repositories on different Database servers?

With Miruna's help on a related issue, I was able to figure this out...

The issue had to do with the Server service on our Test server being associated with an account that had since been locked out.  Once I changed this, I was able to submit all of my old forms without any problems.

Thanks for all the helpful suggestions!

All good questions - some of which I hadn't tried yet:

1) We are currently running Forms 9.2.1.1069
2) The save function does not work when either saving as a PDF or TIF
3) The databases associated with the repositories are on the same database server, and the database connection for each is set up exactly the same way (same user with dbo permissions on each database)
4) I tried doing an import of a .pdf to both repositories, and got an "operation timed out" message.

Now, one thing I had done recently was change permissions so our Named User group (an Active Directory Security Group) had read/write/execute permissions to the repository folder in Windows, but no permissions to actually browse to the folder - would that break the above?  I also noticed nothing was writing to the Logs directory, so I thought this all might be related.

Thanks again for your assistance!

Marty
