Install LFConnector with "Launch on startup" option selected

asked on November 19, 2015 Show version history

After installing LF Connector via command-line following this documentation, the user needs to start LF Connector, go into the options, and select the "Launch on startup" option in order to have LF Connector start automatically.

When deploying LF Connector to dozens or hundreds of stations, we would like this option selected automatically. Is there a command-line argument we can use during the install to have LF Connector auto-start after the install as well as to turn on the "Launch on startup" option? If not, where would we set this value in the registry or in a configuration file through external means such as a batch file?

Thank you.

Per this case, the Laserfiche Connector will not start automatically. We will enhance it.

Thanks!

Hi Bryan,

The "Launch on startup" option is already set by default. Do you deploy fresh one on the machines? Which version do you install?

Thanks,

I tested with version 9.0.0.499 earlier this year. The program is installed with command-line below, usually run by an administrative user in a background process, not by the user that will normally use LF Connector. The install routine also copies in profiles.

C:\Program Files (x86)\MVi\Install Agent\temp\LaserficheConnector\Setup.exe -silent INSTALLLEVEL=1

After install on a fresh machine, the "Launch on startup" checkbox is not selected, and after a reboot it is not selected and LF Connector does not start automatically. Additionally, after selecting the option and then uninstalling LF Connector, the reinstallation leaves the option unchecked even though it was checked previously.

Hi Bryon,

The Laserfiche Connector "Launch on startup" is for current user only. So if the program run by an administrative user, the option will not be checked for normal users.

To configure Laserfiche Connector start automatically for all users, please add an item named "Laserfiche Connector" to registry key HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run, and set its value as "the path of LFC.exe" -suppressconfig

However, the above configuration doesn't matter to the "Launch on startup" checkbox. The checkbox may be unchecked, but Laserfiche Connector can start automatically.

Thank you for this workaround, which we will explore while waiting for a modification to the LF Connector installation routine.

I configured the registry key for Laserfiche Connector to launch on startup. It is working fine, however, the Laserfiche Connector Configuration screen always pops up whenever any user logs in to the PC. Is there a setting so that this screen does not pop up?

Hi Jorge,

Connector 9.0.1 support launching Laserfiche Connector without configuration page.

What about the version of Connector? You can check the version through Connector tray menu->About Laserfiche Connector, see screenshot.

Thanks,

Qinmei

I have a machine that always displays the Connector Config dialog when the machine starts up even though the configuration values are all entered.  Does anybody know why this happens?  It doesn't display on other machines.
