Laserfiche server encountered an error when trying to attach the repository

asked on November 19, 2015

I having trouble with moving a laserfiche database to a new machine. The old machine was running Laserfiche 8 and we put laserfiche 9.2.1 on the new one. I did a backup of the SQL server and moved that to the new machine and installed SQL Express 2012 SP2 and was able to restore the database just fine. When I go to register the old laserfiche data with the registration wizard, if fails at the end with this message

I know its an error that has something to do with laserfiche communicating with SQL but everything on the SQL side seams fine. Any help would be great. Thanks.

Please check the application event log on the Laserfiche Server computer for additional details. Off the top of my head, if you chose to use "Windows Authentication" to connect to SQL, then make sure that the Laserfiche Server service account has the required roles/permissions/rights in SQL.

Thanks, We actually have found that the best way to move the data to a new machine is to upgrade the laserfiche server first, then detach the the repository and move the files. My mistake was moving the files without the upgrade first. It's funny to do the install twice but that's what we have to do. were going to try this process tomorrow and ill let you know.
