Question

Workflow Token Size Limit

asked on November 18, 2015

For a single-value Workflow 9.2 token, is there a size limit in terms of how much data it can hold? For example, will a token only store a certain amount of data (in bytes) or characters before it stops accepting more data?

I have not hit any such limits so far, but I plan to build a workflow that will potentially store a lot of data in a single token (per workflow instance), so I wanted to ask upfront.

Thanks!

Hi, Jon!

Token values are not limited, tokens recorded in the Tokens pane in the instance details are truncated to 3700 characters.

Hey Miruna! :)

Thanks for the super speedy info! Glad to hear that there are no token size limitations, and good to know about the instance detail truncation.

See you at the conference in January! :)

Do keep in mind that you will be dragging all that data around for as long as the workflow is running.

Miruna, thanks for pointing me this way form my duplicate. And sorry I didn't find this first. I'll write my string to a file so I can see the whole thing.

No worries on the duplicate, the wording is pretty generic so it probably matches a ton of things. I knew I could search for "3700" to find it though wink
