Field Search Issues

asked on November 9, 2015

user was able to search under Field search use any field.

He would have 20+ checked and use only one at a time for search with no issues.

Now when he searches it does not work unless there is only 1 Field checked.

This is very recent for them and the issue seems to be happening for multiple users.  Search permissions isn't a problem.

I've cleared his attributes completely as well to make sure any search attributes were removed.

Also restarted all services and the issue was still persisting.

Have you recently upgraded from 8.3? As mentioned in the selected answer to this previous post, this is the expected behavior and has been since Laserfiche 8.3.0. Selecting multiple individual fields and leaving them blank is now treated as searching for entries that have that field assigned with no value, since being able to search for fields that had been left blank was a frequent request.

The behavior for templates is different: if you are searching on a specific template and leave a field blank in the search, the specific field is not included in the search.

No we have been running 9.2 for some time.

The current workaround I have for him is using the search by template and using those fields.  That is working.

Searching by individual fields however, is not.

As mentioned, it is the expected behavior in 9.2 that individual fields that have been added are treated by the search as "search for entries with this field applied where the field is blank". If this is what you are seeing, that is not a bug.

If you are seeing other behavior, please elaborate.

That is what I am seeing.  I just find it odd it was able to search like this before with other fields blank.  And is no longer able to search just within a few days after being able to do so for a very long time.
