Laserfiche - WORM-like Capabilities - Users can delete images but files remain in volume

asked on November 4, 2015

We have a Client who is attempting to use Laserfiche in a manner that is similar to WORM but not completely.

According to this Client, with their old Imaging System, they had worm media. They could delete or change images in the system.  All images were written to the volume, and if something was deleted/changed, the old images stayed on the volume and the replacements were written there as well.  The links from the imaging system database to the old images were lost, but nothing was ever deleted off of the media.

Client is looking at the possibility of something similarly in Laserfiche.  Users have to be able to delete/change images within the system, but that historical record of images should remain.  Is this possible?

WORM like capabilities are supported through Permanent volumes. When volumes are flagged as permanent, content can be added but not removed.

HOWEVER, there's no distinction between 'the image being in the system' and the 'image being on the file server' - it's not possible to delete images in a permanent volume. You could potentially do something where tags or security is used to hide the document from users, but you wouldn't be able to actually delete it.
