Forms questions

asked on November 3, 2015

Is there a certain number of times someone can reopen a form?  Once they saved their progress and are sent a link to reopen it to finish.  Can they open that multiple times or is there a limit?

When users answer YES to a question in Forms,  once the form is pushed to Laserfiche the answer is changed to NO.  Is there anything aside from the Form itself that may be causing the answer to flip?

Sometimes users are getting a response when application is completed,  some would be pushed to Laserfiche repository,  others are not.  Would this be more of a saving issue or submission issue with users?  Or are there any know issues with users submitting but the Form disappearing.

  1. They can open a form multiple times without any problems. If they make changes to the form, they would need to save it as a draft. The save as a draft option is currently only available though before the form has been officially submitted. So if it is at a user task, it is not currently possible to resave it. (Possibly coming in Forms 10).
  2. If you have custom javascript that could be causing problems. If you also have multiple variables that you think are one, you could be saving the incorrect one to the form when it is save to the repository.
  3. I'm guessing when you say response, you are referring to the thank you page. If the Thank you page is configured to show after a form is submitted, everyone that submits a form should see it. If they are not, my guess is that it is possibly not completely submitting.

Blake's right about not being able to save a form other than the starting form prior to submission. However, that's functionality you could implement with a Save button and logic in the process modeler. Depending on the form fields, you may need a little javascript too.

I also agree with Blake about the possible scenarios in which the field may be changing from Yes to No. If the form the users work with is the exact same form (i.e. same name) as the one that goes into Laserfiche, then it's probably a javascript issue. If you do any database lookups in between the form being filled out by the user and the form going into Laserfiche, one of the lookups could be populating the field with No (though that seems less likely).

Just an FYI... Forms 10, coming out in January, will have the ability to save draft copies of forms at any point in the process. I just attended the webinar that discussed the new features.

I did as well.  Looking forward to that feature.  Will be very useful for a lot of our clients.
