Question

Web Access 9.1.1 - IE10 - Internet Explorer blocked this website from displaying content with security certificate errors

asked on November 2, 2015

Below is an Issue that one our Clients is encountering. Per Our Client:

When using Internet Explorer 10 to access the Laserfiche Web Access, and when we double click to open an stored OCR document we are getting the IE message below towards the bottom of the page when the document is displayed inside Laserfiche Web Access.  Clicking on ‘Show content’ just refreshes the page and the message continues to show on the bottom of the page.

In addition, this also appears at the same time towards the top of the Laserfiche site:

I am able to reproduce the issue 100% of the time on various systems running Internet Explorer 10.  Here are my troubleshooting steps so far:

-Added https://<sitename>/laserfiche to IE’s trusted sites

-Added and removed https://<sitename>/laserfiche to IE Compatibility View.

-Unchecked 'check for publisher's certificate revocation' in Security Area

-Unchecked 'check for server certificate revocation' in Security Area

-Attempted to reset custom settings to Low for Trusted Sites Zone

-Restored IE Advanced Settings

-Reset IE

-Added https://<sitename>/laserfiche to the Java Control Panel Exception Site List

-Changed the Java Control Panel from Perform TLS certificate revocation checks on all certificates in the chain of trust to Do not check.

Here is what I tested that seemed to stop the message from being displayed:

-in IE10, unchecked the 'Warn about certificate address mismatch' option in the Advanced tab - tested OK

-Tested in IE11 in the same network and different networks - tested OK

Is there a known issue relating to the above messages with Internet Explorer 10 and Laserfiche Web Access 9.1.1.545?

The <sitename> is something like abc.def.com

It turned out that in this case, a look at the Windows Event Logs revealed that the issue was an expired license for Web Accelerator; generating a new license resolved the issue.

It looks like the message is referring to the Web Accelerator site, not the Web Access site.  Have you looked at that certificate?

Thanks Brian. You were right.

cessary changes to the We Accelerator site and that has resolved the first error in the screenshot.

Is there a way to make the warning/error: "The Laserfiche Web Accelerator is currently unavailable..." go away. Client has successfully tested the web accelerator URL in the Web Access configuration page.

The warning indicates that the browser is unable to load tiles from Web Accelerator, regardless of whether it validated on the configuration page.  Hiding the reporting of the failure does not solve any underlying problems.  Remember that this error indicates that the additional resources you made available for rendering tiles are not being used, and that load is being borne by the Web Access machine.  If you are in a situation where the clustering was necessary to achieve your performance targets, this is potentially a very serious problem.

That said, we've removed this banner from Web Access 10 since the user is not typically in a position to do anything about it and because the fallback is pretty seamless.  It's logged to the event viewer on the Web Access machine, so admins will want to keep an eye on that location for reports like this.
