Question

block weblink access over internet

asked on October 30, 2015

Can we allow Weblink to be accessed only over Intranet and not on internet?

I can see from this post (https://answers.laserfiche.com/questions/79509/Weblink-Offline-Access-For-Demo ) that weblink can work without internet as long as the LF Server and Weblink server can talk to each other but this doesn't answer my specific question, which is to have users access over intranet only and not over internet.

One solution I could think of is, to configure Repository access using Windows Authentication only. This way only the staff with AD service accounts will be able to use it, but I am assuming users should still be able to access it over internet (where they can enter their windows credentials to login to repo).

The reason behind this is, some of our client have sensitive records in their repositories and they can't take a risk of exposing their repository over the internet.

Thanks

In a normal network environment, intranet servers are not accessible from the internet.  Install WebLink on any of those.

You must first turn on the IP restrictions in the server roles and features.  screenshot is from Server 2012 R2

Once you have that turned on, in IIS, you can restrict the access to the site(s).

Hi, Uzair

Do you plan on just using weblink for intranet use only?  If you decided that you want to use it for both intranet and internet you will have to create second site on IIS that will allow you split up the access for both portal.
