Question

How Do You Create Prebuilt Workflow Activities?

asked on October 28, 2015

I have a client that asked if there is a way to configure workflow activities and then save them for future use each time an additional workflow is created? For instance they want 12 different Email activities each one named and configured for a different department. For example an Email IT or Email AP etc. Then each time they drag it over it is already configured for the most part with just a few tweaks. I know you can use the SDK to create custom activities but I believe they were looking for a simpler way that didn't include scripting.

You can save a workflow template then either start your new workflows from it or just open it and copy and paste. Look in the Workflow menu under Publish. If you publish it as a workflow, then all activities have to be fully configured. If you publish a template, they can be left invalid with only some of the properties filled in. Templates can't be run directly, you have to publish a workflow.
