Question

Oracle/DocAgent Link

asked on October 23, 2015

I'll do my best to word this for what I'm looking for:-)  It's a bit hypothetical as one of the vendor's is dragging their feet getting me the code I need for review!!

Ok - Finance is using Oracle and they had an old system in which they stored documents.  They used a document ID (similar to EID) and created a hyperlink in Oracle.  The number was manually entered into Oracle and "some script" ran to create the link.  For Phase 1, we are going to do something similar.  I figured EID would be the simplest because it's unique.

Would I want to create a Web Access link and "show only" the EID number (kind of like a link created in a word document where you display only what the user needs to see or will understand)?  This would be my first true use of Web Access for something like this:-):-)  Is there another way - perhaps I can just pass them the EID and the code they were using would work??  I'm thinking not since I actually need to have Laserfiche launch...

In the past, I used a tighter integration with PeopleSoft and one of your 3rd party vendors.  It was a more dynamic link and filled out info in the template.  I would definitely love to try out the connector, but I'm thinking that's phase 3 or 4:-)

Thanks for any assistance anyone can provide!!

The redirect from the old system is just to retrieve the image right?  This assumes that the documents are already moved over to Laserfiche from the old system.  Maybe you could use search syntax for WebAccess.

http://servername/laserfiche/index.aspx?db=repositoryname#search=searchquery;view=search;imageenable=true

For your search query, build out a document ID search.  This of course assumes that your Oracle screen holds the docID of the document in Laserfiche.  Maybe create a button in Oracle that has the URL syntax and takes the docID from the Oracle system and runs a search for it in Laserfiche.  Again this assumes that Oracle holds the docID of the correct document in Laserfiche.

Not sure I follow the overall process.  So you had a link in Oracle that directed the user to the document in the 'old system'?

Are you basically wanting the same thing but now the link directs users to Laserfiche instead of the 'old system'?

You followed my ramblings:-)  That's exactly what I need!

Step 1 will be to a redirect from the old system to Laserfiche ("conversion" of link)

Step 2 will be to do Laserfiche links going forward.

Future phase will be to do an integration with Oracle because currently they will have to do data entry in 2 systems to make the link possible.

Yes - all documents will be migrated from the old system into Laserfiche- we want to retire that server.

I think what you provided about "should" be what I needed.  As soon as they provide the current syntax, I will hopefully know if we can just replace the code with this "launch" code when they hit the link.

Thanks much for your help!  I'll reply ASAP to let you know if this was what I needed or be able to provide actual details:-)
