Question

Why MS office reads modification date differently when they we open them in Windows or within the client?

asked on October 22, 2015

Hi

The client is asking (among other questions that I have submitted questions before)  why would MS office show different information within document properties depending where you open them.    Why would modification date even be altered when we open MS office applications when its opened from within LF client but retain the correct modification date when the same document opened from within windows folder.

We need to explain to client why this is and if it will get remedied any time soon?

1.  If I open the file MS doc file from within Laserfiche client I see this information  original creation date as it should be but Modification date shows today's date as per image below (no changes done and not saved-just opened):

2.  But, if I drag the file back to windows folder and open it (no change or save), I see its original file creation date and original modification date no change:

Hi Farzali,

When opening office documents from Client, it will save it first in temp, so the modification date updates.

Thanks for the explanation Qinmei,  now I can see why this is happening.    Do you see any fix for it or will this be addressed on future releases of the LF?
