Question

WF Custom Activities show in toolbox on remote installation of WF Designer?

asked on October 14, 2015

Howdy,

Since we have users from multiple domains, and Workflow Designer can only access a Workflow servers within the same domain, we have Workflow Designer installed on a terminal server that is in the same domain. The users then use this designer installed on the terminal server to attach to the Workflow Server for development.

The issue is that we have some custom activities installed on the workflow server that we need these terminal server users to have access to. While I have the custom activities referenced and added to the toolbox on the Workflow server, I have not been able to add those custom activities to the designer toolbox on the terminal server.

Is it possible to do this? Any assistance would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Is the custom library present on the Designer machine as well?

Not at this point, but I do not have a problem doing that for the terminal server. Of course that is not ideal as it is a separate machine that we would have maintain those DLLs on.

Assuming that we put it there, I am guessing that we could just add it to the designer toolbox, is that correct?

Also, would those activities then available to all users on the terminal server?

Yes, the custom activity needs to be deployed to each Designer installation as well as the server. Each user would have to add it to their toolbox on a terminal server.
