Broad Text Searches Shutting Down Laserfiche

asked on October 13, 2015

Has anyone ever had an issue with Laserfiche getting shut down by broad text searches in Weblink?

We seem to have a problem every few weeks where someone does a very broad text search & it kind of shuts down Laserfiche.  To the point that we have to restart the server.

How do you have your system configured?

Do you have repository and Laserfiche Full text search on the same server?

How many CPUS's and memory did you allocate to your server?

We had the same issue a couple of months ago. We decided to split our full text search catalog to it's own server and dedicated 4 cpu's and 12 Gigs of memory. Now we are able to run full text search on our records with no performance issues.

Thanks Ivan.  I will pass this information onto our IT Department & our VAR.  Just in case it's something they haven't thought about.

Paul,

Word of caution if you decide to move the LFFTS service to a new server you will need to perform a re-indexed on your Laserfiche Repository. During that time text search will not be at 100% it will return some records as your re-indexing is working on adding the text search.

We had to re-indexed about 1.5million pages it took about 5-6 hours to complete the tasks.

Re-Indexing time could vary depending on how many CPU's and Memory you allocate to your new server.
