Question

Document Extensions in QuickFields

asked on October 13, 2015

Answers,

I need to know all the possible document extensions that the latest version of QuickFields can process or convert to Laserfiche images. I've looked through the help files and searched the website, but I've been unable to find anything on the supported extensions.

Quick Fields only generates images from PDFs. Depending on what type of processing you need, other file types may be supported (for ex, anything with an IFilter can be used with the Text Extraction process and Pattern Matching).

What other extensions will QF process then? .jpeg, .png, .gif, .bmp, etc. I don't need to exclusively generate images, I just need to know all possible file formats that can be processed in QF.

.tif, .tiff, .jpg, .jpeg and .bmp will be treated as images. .png and .gif are treated as electronic documents. If you're just using pattern matching to extract data from the file name, any other extensions can be processed (as electronic documents).

Are there any plans to add .png and .gif as laserfiche images?

They're not the usual types of images that you would get from scanner or cameras, so, not currently. That said, what are you using them for?
