Question

Web Access timeout for specific user

asked on October 13, 2015

I see there's a way to change the idle amount of time it takes to timeout in the web.config file. https://answers.laserfiche.com/questions/47413/Webaccess-timout-session

Is there a way to have a set time for Web Access to timeout for everyone but exclude the timeout for a specific user?

Hi Sierra,

That sessionState timeout mentioned in the link you posted is an application-wide feature in asp.net (the code framework that Web Access is built on), so as you suggested, it will apply to every user connecting through Web Access.

Web Access currently doesn't support a means of applying different timeouts to specific users. This includes both currently released versions of Web Access and the soon to be released Web Access 10.

It's an interesting idea, and one that we could consider for a future release. Do you have a specific use case for this feature?

A user would like to export their folder every night as a backup but it times out before it finishes the export.
