Questions using Forms behind a reverse proxy (URL changing to servername)

asked on October 12, 2015

We have set up access to our LF forms web application via our Reverse Proxy (IBM WebSEAL) which works successfully for most content, but some specific content does not display correctly. Eg URL is changing back to the servername.

For example, when a user accessed via Reverse Proxy (https://reverseproxy/Forms), logs in, and then tries to launch the Form using the green Start process button, instead of it launching via the Reverse Proxy URL (https://reverseproxy/Forms) it instead redirects to the internal/direct URL (http://servername/Forms).

Also when a User Task activity sends a user an email the URL link is also direct to the server (eg http://servername/Forms).

Issue: Whilst this will work for users who are logged on to our Network, users that may be accessing the emailed links on there mobile will not be able to access the form.

Can anyone please confirm if you've used LF Forms in this way, specifically behind a Reverse Proxy?

Forms 10.2 now supports add an option called FormsURI in the cf_options table for the Forms database manually to specify the URI that will be used to generate the URLs, you can set the value of the FormsURI to the reverse proxy such as http://reverseproxy

Hi Xiuhong,

We recently upgraded to V10.2 and have tried your instructions above (adding record in cf_options called FormURl and added in the reverse proxy value. Restarted service (+ server). But once clicking on starting a Forms process the reverse proxy url continues to change back to the server name. Which staff cannot access when they are not logged into the VPN network (reverse proxy they don't need to be logged into the network).

Are there any other suggestions you can recommend (eg mods to config files)?

thanks

I think the option is called FormsHostEmailOverride. Default value is blank, but if you enter a URL, Forms will use that for links in emails.

This is not something that Laserfiche Forms is capable of at present; an SCR has been filed to include this functionality in a future release of Forms. Thank you for bringing the matter to our attention!

Has any progress been made on this, does Forms 10 have a resolution to this problem.

I am myself in the middle of implementing a reverse proxy.  So far, all my product with exception of Forms is working.  Other than the 2 Form server solution as proposed elsewhere in this site, there must me be a way.  In my case, it almost seems as if the hostname is static when set.b

Has anyone one else had success where they may be willing to share their configuration?  Or does LF support have any suggestions.  Thanks!
