Question

"drag and drop" and "copy and paste" issues

asked on October 5, 2015

When I try to drag/drop into a specific scan folder using WebAccess, I get a message that "I don't have required rights to import files to this location."
If I drag/drop to that same folder using Client (logged in using Windows authentication), it works fine.

If I try copy/paste in WebAccess, the Paste option is grayed out.
Copy/paste in Client works ok.

File/Import works in both WebAccess and Client.

How do we get drag/drop and/or copy/paste to work in WebAccess?

Hi Kelli,

Just to make sure we're on the same page, you're using the same user in the Client as you are in Web Access?

If so, what version of Web Access are you using? What browser are you using and what's the version of that?

If you go to the folder you're trying to drag/drop and copy/paste to, right click on it, select 'Properties', and click on the 'Rights' tab, which check boxes are checked?

From what my customer tells me so far, same user. They are starting to implement Web Access so they only have tried it with two users. Both are experiencing the same problem.

IE 11 and Web Access 9.2

The customer went home for the day so I can remote in and look at rights tomorrow, but I just wanted to clarify that Web Access mimics the rights set in the client, correct? I read in an answers post that it may be settings within the browser so I am checking tomorrow on that as well.

Yes, it is expected that Web Access and the Client would behave the same if the user is the same. This is true regardless of whether entry access rights were set in the Client or in Web Access.

It's unlikely that the issue is due to browser settings. I don't think Web Access would return the 'You don't have required rights...' message at all if the browser settings were incorrect. If you want to check just to eliminate it as a cause, the relevant settings would be compatibility mode (should be off) and JavaScript settings (should be enabled). You would see a yellow banner at the top of the browser if either those were off however.

The customer is now able to drag and drop, don't have any idea why this is working now since we didn't change any settings yet, but he cannot copy a fie from windows explorer and paste into Web Access. Is Web Access configured to be able to copy and paste from windows explorer? He can copy and paste documents/folders within Web Access just not from an outside source.

Copying from Windows Explorer to Web Access is not a supported feature.

Another user is still getting a "permissions denied" error when dragging from windows explorer window into Web Access. The previous user who was getting this issue made no changes but his started working.

Any ideas?

Actually, she is getting the "View Downloads" popup when she drags into Web Access, like she is trying to download the file. I have attached a screen shot.

This is IE11, correct? is compatibility mode off? Have you tried resetting IE settings?
