Question

QuickFields: The license could not be validated. The machine fingerprint does not match. [0104-QF0]

asked on October 5, 2015

Our Laserfiche serves were rebooted over the weekend due to issues with the storage arrays. While attempting to bring all Laserfiche services back online, I the QuickFields 9 license was not valid. I generated a new license in LFDS and replaced the old license. I am not receiving the "The license could not be validated. The machine fingerprint does not match. [0104-QF0]". We need help as soon as possible to resolve this issue.

Thank You,

Zach Merrill

An Activate Now button will appear when you first open QF, it is on the upper right. This allows you to browse to the text file and re-activate. The software just looks at the text file, it does not update directly with the DS server.

Did you re-register the Quick Fields machine with the new fingerprint in LFDS?

I went to Edit on the Quick Fields license in LFDS, clicked Look up, and generated a new license. Where do I need to copy the new license to? The old license was located in the following path which does not seem right: C:\Program Files (x86)\Laserfiche\Quick Fields 8.0

I restarted the QF service on the server and was not successful.

That's definitely not the right path, Quick Fields does not read the license from it. The license goes in C:\ProgramData\Laserfiche\Quick Fields\Licenses. The best way to update it would be through the Start Page (which will take care of placing it on the right folder). If you start Quick Fields, it should say "Invalid License" at the top of the start page with a "Activate Now" button which will allow you to browse to your new license.

That did the trick! Thank you Chad!
