Question

Office 2016 support

asked on October 1, 2015

Hi,

With the (very) recent release of Office 2016 I'm already getting questions about whether it's supported with Laserfiche. Does anybody know if this will be supported in v9 or will be have to wait for v10?

Thanks,

Brian

We're currently double-checking it.

In LF 9, if you double click to open and edit an Office doc in Client with Office 2016, it is not recognized as an LF doc. Check out to edit or open from WebAccess work fine. Other main functions work fine as well. Full support to Office 2016 will be added later.

When you say it is not recognized as an LF doc, are you referring to the LF Office Integration Plugin not saving as a new version in Laserfiche?

What I mean is that if you double click to open an Office doc from LF Client with Office 2016 installed on your machine, in the opened office doc, all menus in Laserfiche ribbon that requires connection to repository (e.g. check in/out, metadata, tokens...) are grayed out. Office Integration cannot not save any changes back to that entry in repository, instead, it treats this opened office doc as a local copy. Save to Laserfiche as new document is the ONLY choice in that case.

This issue is addressed in the coming LF 10.

Hi All,

Is there any update to this as I can't see support for Office 2016 in the LF 10 release notes/list of changes.

Cheers!

Sorry about the late reply, we were all at the Laserfiche Conference. Full Office 2016 is planned for SP1 which will be available in the next couple of months.

Will LF version 9.2 be compatible with Office 2016 or just LF Version 10 SP1?

Only LF 10 and above as far as I know.

We have 10 and it is still not compatible with Office 2016 - we are having major issues with the add-in - and are not getting a clear answer on if this will be resolved any time soon.

Hi Michelle,

Are you using Laserfiche 10 or 10.1?

10 - I received a call and was told that we needed to upgrade to 10.1 and how to change settings to help with the issue - Thanks!

Regarding the comment - "Full Office 2016 is planned for SP1 which will be available in the next couple of months".
I read KB 1013726  - Changes for Laserfiche 10 Update 1 (the installation process will automatically detect and install the service pack)

Is an Update 1 different than an SP1?
Are we still waiting for SP1 to allow LF 10 to work with Office 2016?

Hi Andy,

Yes Update 1 is different to SP1. There can be multiple updates per service pack. Still waiting for Office 2016 support.

Hey Chris,

Just to confirm, we don't have any major known issues at the moment using the Lf 10 RTM on Office 2016, all standard functionality is fine. We just had some small things here and there to prevent us from feeling comfortable saying official full compatibility.

It certainly WORKS though, no question there.

Hi Justin,

I've tested this now with Office 2016 x32 and LF 10.0.0.994 and it seems to work. We have several customers who are currently moving to Office 2016 so this will be a good driver to get them upgraded to LF 10.

Cheers!

My client with 9.2.1.562 upgraded to Office 2016 and lost the ability to "Save to Laserfiche" from Outlook.

After a repair of LF client they were able to save to LF from Outlook 2016.

I'm getting the same questions - some clients are keen to move to this as soon as compatibility is confirmed.

A search for "Office 2016" yields no matches on the support site so far (except this thread!)
