Question

Drag and droping PDF's from Windows Explorer

asked on September 29, 2015

When we drag and drop a PDF from Windows Exploer in Web Access the file opens up in Internet exploerer and does not import. We have set up the compatability settings and tried a few check boxes in settings. I will also mention we are generating text and Laserfiche pages on new documents.

I go to the file import in Web Access and it does import.

Is there a setting that manages this behavior. The import process takes upwards to 10 steps where a drag and drop is 2 steps.

What version of Web Access and Internet Explorer is being used? Here's what it should look like using Web Access 9.2 and IE 11 when you drag a file from Windows Explorer into the content pane of a folder in Web Access.

We are using IE 11 And Web Access 9.2 and it does not look like that it looks as if we are draging a shortcut.

Test in another browser like Firefox or Chrome and see if that works or if you get the same issue. Also try from another computer.

You may also want to just open a support case and provide a video showing exactly what the user is doing and the issue they are getting.

It's possible that IE is running in a "compatibility mode" where it emulates an older browser version that doesn't support drag-and-drop.  This is especially common when accessing sites on the local intranet.  If you press F12 you'll get the developer tools, and the Emulation tab will show you what mode IE is running in.  You'll want "Edge (Default)" - if it's anything else, you'll want to look at the "Compatibility View settings" menu item.
