Specific Document Access Rights?

Have an extensive folder structure with two types of documents (docsA & docsB) -- each doc with its respective template metadata (tempA & tempB). I would like to have particular users to only have access to docB/tempB documents, while having others access both docA/tempA and docB/tempB documents. What is the most effective way to accomplish this?

create 2 groups and assigned the users to their specific group, i.e GroupA, GroupB, then set security to allow GroupA to view TemplateA and Access Rights to view FolderA, and do the same for GroupB, TemplateB and FolderB.
