Question

User is Forced to Login as Read Only

asked on September 28, 2015

Hi Everyone,

A client of ours has run into a problem where one of his users can only login as a read only user. The user in question has a full named user license assigned. The read only flag is not checked in their profile, nor is it checked on either of the two groups of which they are a member. Other members of these groups authenticate as full users without an issue.

We can get the user to authenticate as a full user if we assign the Manage Trustees privilege, but we do not want this user to have that privilege.

The problem is for this user only, and it is consistent across workstations.

They are running Avante 8.3.1.

Has anyone run into this before? Any fixes?

Is this a repository named user (Laserfiche username and password) or a directory named user (Windows account)? If this is for a Windows domain user, can you also check to see if this user may be a member of a Windows domain group that had been configured to be read only?

Hi Alexander,

It is a windows domain user, they are apart of 2 windows groups and no Laserfiche groups. I have verified that neither group is set to read-only.

Other users that are members of those groups are able to login as full users without issue.

Are there any repository users that are set to be read-only? Perhaps this user's Windows account is linked to one of those repository users.

If that's not the issue, then please open a support case so this can be investigated further.

There are no repository users that are set to read-only. And their account is not linked to a repository user.

I'll open a support case, thanks for the help.

Hi, I'm wondering if you ever found a resolution to this issue.  We have a customer who is seeing similar behavior.  If repository named users login with Windows Authentication, they only have Read Only rights.  But if they login with their user name and password, they have full rights.
