Question

Am I Able to Copy an Excel Document from Laserfiche to OneNote?

asked on September 25, 2015

We upgraded to Laserfiche Client 9.2 a month ago, from 8.3, and I had previously been able to copy an excel document within Laserfiche over to a OneNote page. Now, for some reason, I am unable to do so. I am able to copy the document to my desktop first, and then copy it to OneNote, but to do so each time would be cumbersome.

Should I be able to copy an excel doc in Laserfiche directly to OneNote? And what might be preventing me from doing so?

Hello Kendra,

I'd like to ask for some clarifications:

  • How did you copy the Excel document from Laserfiche Client into OneNote?
    • Did you use Ctrl-C, Ctrl-V (copy and paste)?
    • Or did you use mouse to drag-and-drop from Laserfiche Client into OneNote?
  • What is the size of the Excel document (in kilobytes)?
  • What is the version of Microsoft Office?
  • What is the version of Windows?

Thanks for providing the details.

Hi Ryan,

Thank-you for your questions!

1. Method of Copying: I tried three methods. One, a right-click copy (on the excel document), and a right-click paste (into OneNote). Two, control-c/control-v. Three, a drag-and-drop from Laserfiche into OneNote. All three weren't successful.

2. The file size is typically between 10 and 20 KB

3. Microsoft Office 2013

4. Windows 7

Hey Ryan,

Just wondering if you've had any luck with figuring this one out?

Thanks,

Kendra

Hi Kendra,

It looks like the clipboard code had a big overhaul since 8.3, which is why you are not able to copy over the information you used to. However, due to the regression risk, it will probably not be fixed soon. Our developers are aware of this change.

Thanks for getting back to me, Ashley. That's too bad, but I hope the feature will be resolved/reinstated in the next Laserfiche update or version. We use it quite a lot in our office.

Hi Ashley,

I'm wondering if there are any updates regarding this issue. It's still a feature that quite a few people in our office would like to have back.
