Question

Does Laserfiche support Microsoft DRM or IRM?

asked on September 23, 2015

Does Laserfiche support Microsoft DRM or IRM? I have a client who wants to migrate files from SharePoint to Laserfiche but needs to preserve the Rights Management applied to the files. Thanks!

This question just came up again in an RFP. Any answer for this?

Zaheer, we are looking at something similar on a project and its down to the migration method and tool you deploy to move the documents/data. Just thinking that in the case of Sharepoint to Laserfiche, if the site is using AD to manage rights to both solutions, this should be relatively straightforward.

Thank you Fearghal! Do you know if the DRM/IRM features are embedded within the file itself? If so then it makes sense that moving the documents to Laserfiche will not affect those features. However if those features require the SharePoint platform then it's another case altogether.

Not usually as Sharepoint typically sets up that libraries and lists have IRM attributed to them and all documents within inherit the rights. If you are migrating from SP to Laserfiche, talk to FileFacets as they specialise in migrations and may be able to answer with more clarity.
