Question

Conditional Metadata

asked on September 22, 2015

Hello,

I am looking for a way to conditionally apply metadata(tag) to a document with Quick Fields if a particular set of criteria are met.  Example:  If a bill of lading (BOL) is scanned, and meets 1 condition, it should be tagged with Tag A, if 2 conditions are met, the image should be tagged with Tag B.  Any ideas on how this can happen?

Thanks,

Nate

Hi Nate,

The easiest solution is to use two slightly-different document classes. You can create a copy of your bill of lading document class and then make the appropriate changes only to the identification conditions and assigned tags.

My personal technique for this is to pass the data into laserfiche and then use workflow. If both documents can be identified together and the metadata can be extracted together I try to avoid having another identification section (especially if it involves zone OCR's).
