When performing a field search (i.e. specifying individual fields rather than a template) what is the expected behaviour if a field is included but no value specified?

A client has mentioned that the behaviour has changed between 9.1. and 9.2 whereby in 9.1 the blank field would be ignored whereas in 9.2 it literally searches for blank field values so the results are different. I recall the behaviour changing in 8.x maybe but can't find any info in the release notes to indicate this.

There should be no change in behavior between the 9.1 and 9.2 Client. Starting in Client 8.3.0 was when if you searched across selected fields (not by template) and left individual fields blank, it would search for exactly that, i.e. documents that have that field associated (via a template) and did not have a value for those fields.

If you search across selected fields and the field is blank it will search for exactly that. Where blank field is in fact black. Template search is of course different and blank values are ignored.

I cant recall exactly which version this changed in. And I didn't see it in the release notes either. I raised a support case and was informed this was intended behaviour.
