Question

Use of dot in Form Variable caused issue

asked on September 15, 2015

I have a Form that will no longer save a particular variable to Laserfiche.  It was working fine previously.

The Field Variable name was "Invoice_No.".  As you can see there is a "." in the variable.  I know this should not be there but the variable was created from the Field Name "Invoice No.".

The Variable name has been changed by Laserfiche to "Invoice_No_".  I think this happened when upgrading to 9.2 from 9.1.

Laserfiche has changed the Variable name on the Form itself, but has not changed it in the field declarations in the Process Modeler where I have used Save to Repository.

A trap for the unwary.

Hi there,

It's listed as changed in 9.2 release KB. https://support.laserfiche.com/KB/1013539

"Variables have a new syntax in which dashes and periods are replaced by underscores. Variables imported from versions earlier than Forms 9.2 will have their variable names updated to match the new syntax in Forms 9.2. However, references to the variables will not be automatically updated and must be manually changed."
