Laserfiche search "Stop Words" are not being blocked

asked on September 11, 2015 Show version history

Hello Everyone,

We recently upgraded our system from Laserfiche Avante 8.3 to Laserfiche Rio 9.2 and moved our Laserfiche Full-Text indexing and search engine to a separate server.  Indexing and Text Search feature is working with no issue.

I did notice that the "Stop Words" like "and" are not being blocked from being search on our system. I also added new words like "beach" and "Newport" I'm getting the same results. How do I enable this option so user's are not able to use stop words?

Also when the feature is working is there a way to get pop-up message letting the user know that word is to common to be returned I search result?

From your screenshot, it looks like you are searching ONLY on the word and. If that is the case, this is expected behavior. There are three cases for stopwords:

  1. If you are searching on ONLY the stop word, the search will run on that word. For example, if you a text search for and, you will get results like shown in your screenshot
  2. If you run a search for Administrator and Economic Development Coordinator, then the word and  would be ignored and the search would return results with all the words Administrator, Economic, Development, and Coordinator
  3. Finally, if you search on the same terms but use quotes, like "Administrator and Economic Development Coordinator" then the exact phrase will be searched on, including and.
