Object reference not set to an instance of an object

asked on September 11, 2015

What would cause an "Object reference not set to an instance of an object" from Import Agent?

The full error from Event Viewer: "There was an error executing the profile Signed Contracts while importing the file "09-11-2015.pdf". (Object reference not set to an instance of an object.)"

No update for the issue that Darrell was speaking of since a case was not opened.  There is an issue with Import Agent that generates the same message which is an open SCR and is PDF specific.  If you have this issue, please open a case.

For the benefit of other readers. The issue that Daniel Rabinowitz ran into is a defect in 9.2.1.635.

The workaround at this time is to import the PDF without generating pages on the Import then use Snapshot to generate pages once it is inside of LF.  The issue itself is fixed/no longer occurs in Laserfiche 10.

Sorry for not responding, for me the issue was security on the PDF not allowing copying or printing. Import Agent was trying to create pages and OCR on import. I wound up just using Quick Fields and manually creating pages and text once in Laserfiche.

I am trying to figure out a way to remove the security on the PDF through VB scripting in my Outlook rules, that way Import Agent can create pages and OCR the PDFs.

Does it work if you do not OCR?

How about if you uncheck "Decolumnize text"?

Are you able to import the PDF using drag and drop with OCR?

Set the Import Log level to high, then reimport the PDF.

Please open a Support Case with your VAR and attach the application and system evtx logs as well as a copy of the PDF so we can test it here.

I get the same error if I try to import the same document with Quick Fields. I can however, store the document through Quick Fields and it seems normal when stored.

I am not using OCR on either of the applications. I have no issue when dragging and dropping the same file.
