1. Can you clarify what type of authentication you are trying to accomplish with biometric scanners?
2. Are the users logging into Forms with their fingerprints or using it during an approval process?

1. Can you clarify what type of authentication you are trying to accomplish with biometric scanners?
TO DATE (OF COURSE WE´RE ALWAYS OPEN TO SUGGESTIONS) WE HAVE VISUALIZED THE AUTENTHICATION PROCESS AS FOLLOWS: USE FINGERPRINT SCANNERS (BLUETOOTH) WITH MOBILE (Android) DEVICES. A LOCAL FINGERPRINT DATABASE STORED IN THE DEVICE WOULD BE USED TO AUTHENTICATE EXISTING CUSTOMERS IN THE CASE THERE´S NO MOBILE DATA CONNECTION AVAILABLE AT THE TIME OF THE AUTHENTICATION. SCANNER SOFTWARE WOULD CHECK WHO THE USER BY HIS FINGERPRINT AND RETURN A VALUE STORED IN THE DATABASE, LET´S SAY THE NAME OR CUSTOMER ID NUMBER; FROM THERE, COMPARING IT TO A VALUE STORED AS METADATA IN A LASERFICHE FIELD SHOULD BE EASY AND THEREFORE PROVIDE THE REQUIRED FAIL PROOF, SECURE AUTHENTICATION. THIS WAY WE WOULD LEAVE THE FINGERPRINT IDENTIFICATION AND VALIDATION TO AN EXTERNAL (TO LASERFICHE) SPECIALIZED SOFTWARE

AS WE ARE DESIGNING THE PROCESS, ANY OF THE TWO COULD WORK.

THE IDEA IS THAT THEY WOULD BE FORMS AUTHENTICATED USERS; NOT NECESSARILY NAMED LASERFICHE USERS, BUT FORMS-ONLY USERS. THE FORM WOULD BE USED NOT BY THE CUSTOMER HIMSELF, BUT BY A MOBILE AGENT (AN EMPLOYEE) THAT WOULD GO TO HARD TO REACH PLACES ALL OVER THE TERRITORY, TO PERFORM DIVERSE OPERATIONS WITH THESE HARD-TO-REACH CUSTOMERS, ON THE FIELD, AUTHENTICATING THEM VIA FINGERPRINT. WE ARE LOOKING FORWARD TO BETWEEN 2,000 TO 3,000 USERS OF THESE PROCESSES.

Presales currently doesn’t have experience with biometric authentication as you’ve described.
