Question

Web access and Desktop client handle external table differently

asked on August 31, 2015

I have an external table with employee ID, first last and middle names.  In Web Access, when you select the ID on the template, it automatically populates the 3 name fields at the same time.  In the desktop client, using the same template, the name fields have to be empty and you have to click on each field and select each value after selecting the employee ID.  Is there a setting that I am missing that is different between Web Access and the Client?  We are on version 9.0.2.

Working with LSG, we discovered the magic combination that we needed to upgrade the client and server to 9.0.3, not limit the number of entries being displayed, do have entries in cache (to avoid the screen freezing), and adjust the parent entries on the dynamic fields on the template.

This feature has been available in the Laserfiche Client since 8.3.0 Service Pack 2. See notes from KB 1012921

Laserfiche now automatically selects a value in a dynamic field when there is only one value. (84320)

If you are finding that in your dynamic field setup where there's only one corresponding match field based off of the selected parent field (employee ID) that the child field values aren't populated automatically in the Client, then please open a support case. It looks like you work with our Laserfiche Consulting group so that would be who you can contact.
