Active Directory look up in Forms

asked on August 31, 2015

Is there a way in Forms to do an AD look up to retrieve e-mail information so that the e-mail activity/process in Forms can send an e-mail to a users e-mail that is specified in AD? I know a work around for this is to import a reference table in SQL so that you can have the users with their e-mail addresses.

Currently there is a form that requires attachments. We would like the attachments to be sent to the specified e-mail from AD sent prior to storing the attachments or form into Laserfiche. The main issue is that the e-mail information is stored in AD and there is no current database with users and e-mails associated in it.

There currently is no way to do that through Forms. Also, there is currently no way to send attachments in an email using Forms either. The best solution is to save it to Laserfiche and have Workflow take care of your needs. There are ways of being able to query AD using SQL Server if you google it. You could then use Workflow to query AD to gain access to the email address and send the attachments.

I have not done this myself, but in theory it should work.

Thanks for the response Blake. Looks like we'll keep the current process of saving the form and attachments to Laserfiche and then sending those via e-mail.

Have you tried adding the email to the user's account.

I am not sure i am following your process, but i add the attributes of a user upon hire.

On the user add attribute with the name of "[FORMS}Email" and in the data section enter thier email address.
