Question

First Load of Weblink Site Very Slow

asked on August 31, 2015

A client recently upgraded to Weblink 9 and after the upgrade the very first time you hit the page it loads very slow, anywhere between 20 - 30 seconds with any browser.  After it loads everything runs fine.  Also if you simply just close that tab of your browser, but keep the browser open with other tabs and then hit the site again it opens in 1 second.  However, if you completely exit your browser and then try and click on the link again, it will take another 20 - 30 seconds to load.  We have tried the following KB articles:

https://support.laserfiche.com/KB/1012934

https://support.laserfiche.com/KB/1013037

We have changed who the Application runs as.  However, you can recreate this issue every single time that you click on this link without having you Internet Browser open.  I have included the public like below if you would like to try and recreate it yourself.

If anyone has any additional ideas we would love to hear them.

Thanks

It does look like the delay is due to connecting to the Laserfiche server, rather than a delay in process startup.  KB 1012934 would be my first guess also.  I assume there's a firewall between WebLink and LFS, so how did you resolve that situation in the KB - by turning off name resolution and restarting the server?

The next step would be using a tool like Wireshark to capture network traffic.  I'd start at the Laserfiche server and see if it's responding to the login request in a timely manner.  If it is, that suggests the problem is in your network configuration.

Thanks Brian.  However we have tried making changes to IIS, but that did not work either.  I have a support Case open and the last thing they wanted me to try was to use Localhost/Weblink directly on the server, however, we get the same results from the server as well.  There appears to be something going on, but so far we have been unable to find the right configuration in order to speed up the initial login for the browsers connection.

Derick,

Have you tried setting the Auto-Start feature in IIS? Also, try using a virtual directory name without underscores.

Hi Derick,

We are having the same issue with our Weblink, which sits in the DMZ. Have you ever got this issue resolved for your client?

Thanks,

Angela
