Question

Public Portal User Permissions - Deny & Everyone Group Implications

asked on August 28, 2015

Greetings,

This is probably something simple or perhaps I'm going about it entirely wrong but here's my scenario.

I have a folder with the Everyone group being given read and browse rights.

I've applied the deny permission on this folder for the Public Portal User.

The effective permissions are still Browse and Read for the Public Portal User account.

Is this standard behavior?

Regards,

Carl

I've worked around this but was just curious as to the deny not taking precedence in this scenario.

Is the Bypass Browse privilege granted to that user, a group they belong to, or the Everyone group? That would cause the behavior you are describing.

The user is the named user setup to consume the Public Portal license and only has Search, Print, and Export feature rights. 0 privileges. This is confirmed by checking the effective rights on the user within the administration console.
