'Generate Pages' command for jpeg files gets error "No application is associated with the specified file for this operation. [6000:0x80070483] [6000]"

asked on August 27, 2015 Show version history

In one of our pc with Laserfiche Client 9.2 (Avante Server), 'Generate pages' command for files with extension of ".jpeg" gets error of "No application is associated with the specified file for this operation. [6000:0x80070483] [6000]". It is OK with files with ".jpg" extension. This occurs only in this specific pc and all other PCs have no problem in 'Generating Pages' with "jpg" or 'jpeg" extension files. Those jpeg files were imported through an SDK application for syncing LF with a certain Windows folders.

I checked that, in this problematic pc, I can open ".jpeg" file without a problem outside LF Client (in Windows File Explorer). I tried to set the default program for jpeg by "Open With..." and setting MS Paint as the default application with no good.

Any idea?

The Windows Control Panel has a panel for Default Programs, which can use to configure the association for .jpeg files. Please try that and then restart the LF client.

Thanks for reply, Michael. I tried and still no good. If you see the attached screen capture, the LF Client shows the proper icon for 'Windows Photo Gallery' for the subject document. Still it gets the same error : "There was an error printing the document. No application is associated with the specified file for this operation. (0x80070483)
Error printing '2015-16 AM Process.png': Unknown error. [6000] [6000]".

The file in your screenshot is a .png. PNG is a different file format than JPEG. Have you followed the same steps to set a default program for the PNG file type?

Yes, I followed Michael's suggestion for jpeg AND png extensions, specifying 'Windows Photo Gallery' as the default application in Control Panels. It was the same. I tried different programs too, such as MS Paint but all the same.

hi team,

I am getting the same error when generating pages for a CSV text file.

I can open the file with Notepad which is set in Windows as the default application.

LF Client is 9.2.1.635 installed on Server 2008 R2 SP1

Could the Support team please provide an update on the fix.

many thanks

A similar issue has been raised by our clients in relation to .eml files stored in Laserfiche. If they right click > print then they get the same message about no associated application.

For me though this is expected - if you export the file to a Windows folder and right click it here, does the "Print" option appear? If not then this error will appear in Laserfiche. There is no print handler for those file extensions.
